I came to retrain after many years of a corporate career when exploring my emotional self was vital to me.
I appreciate that the initial contact is daunting, for some walking into the unknown but that is why working with a trained psychotherapist is an important step in looking after yourself.
I offer a free quick call to talk about what brings you to therapy and to set up our session.
The next stage is to experience being in conversation with me. That’s right I am an active participant in our relationship, I reflect back what I am hearing to enable you to hear the impact you have on an other. This session is charged but you may wish to take some time to work out if you want to enter into a verbal agreement with me about the number of sessions you may have.
I recommend between 10-12 at least in the beginning. Then comes the work we do together. In this mutually committed space in which we explore the issues that bring you to seek support. This maybe enough.
If however, we decide it isn’t maybe something is eluding us we may decide to work together indefinitely. That is to say, until you consider that you are ready to leave. If that is the case I usually suggest at least 2 sessions before you do leave so we have time to evaluate our work, what we have done together and to say our goodbye.
